Cosmetic dentistry is methods of professional oral cares that focuses on improving the appearance of patient teeth and restoring them as well; We can treat stained, discolored, worn, chipped, broken, misaligned, mishapen teeth. Modern cosmetic dentistry can give our patients “smile makeover” to improve the appearance of our patients smile through one or more procedures. Now l will talk about various types of cosmetic dental procedures. Implants: A dental implant is an artificial root made of titanium metal. It is inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of the natural tooth. An artificial replacement tooth is attached to the implant. The implant acts as an anchor to hold the replacement tooth in place. These implants are almost indistinguishable from the surrounding natural teeth. Once the bone and supporting tissue fuse to the implant, they are permanently secured into place. Patients need to practice diligent oral hygiene during and after implant procedures. Dental Crowns, Inlays and Onlays: A crown is used when the whole visible part of the tooth needs to be repaired but the root of the tooth within the gum is healthy enough to be left intact. Inlays and onlays, are indirect fillings, which are made from gold, porcelain, or composite materials and fill decayed or damaged teeth. They are created in a dental laboratory and bonded into place during an office visit. The filling is called an “inlay” when the material is bonded within the center of a tooth; it is called an “onlay” when the filling includes one or more points of the tooth or covers the biting surface. Inlays and onlays preserve as much healthy tooth as possible and are an alternative to crowns. Inlays and Onlays, along with fillings and crowns are all kinds of restorative work by dentists to repair single damaged teeth, where a modulable, hard-setting material is applied to a tooth and allowed to set in place. Dental Veneers: Dental veneers are a possible solution to help the patient to achieve the perfect smile. They are a popular choice for those with chipped teeth, a gap between teeth, misshaped teeth or heavily non-treatable discolored teeth. Dental veneers are thin custom-made shells of tooth-colored porcelain or resin that cover the front surface of the teeth. After removing about a half-millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface, then veneers bonded (cemented) to the front of the teeth, changing their color, shape, size, or length. Veneers are often called “Hollywood smile". Dental Bonding: In dental bonding, a tooth-colored, putty-like resin, which is a durable plastic material, is applied to the tooth and hardened with an ultraviolet or laser light, bonding the material to the tooth.
